Signup-to-first-message on desktop: 52 seconds. Darlink AI is operated by FameLink SA, a Swiss-based company — meaningful because Switzerland sits outside both the EU GDPR framework and the US patchwork, with its own Federal Data Protection Act (FADP). This is the only Swiss-jurisdiction platform in our 2026 cohort.
What the Swiss jurisdiction means in practice for users: FADP is broadly GDPR-aligned (data minimisation, purpose limitation, user rights) but not identical. Data access requests are handled under FADP rather than GDPR procedures. We filed a test data export request mid-cycle and received our data within 11 days — comparable to MyDreamCompanion's 8-day GDPR response.
5-style character builder is the visually distinctive feature. The platform supports five visual styles: Realistic, Anime, Furry, Fantasy, Cartoon. Each style has its own model tuning, so character output is style-coherent rather than just a slider on the same base model. We built our standard fixture (Maya, 6 traits) in Realistic style and a Furry-style variant to test style-coherence.
Results: same 6 traits expressed identically in both styles. The visual rendering differed (obviously) but personality consistency across styles was strong. For users running multiple stylistic universes the 5-style range is genuinely differentiated; for users sticking to one style the range is wasted but the underlying style is well-tuned.
Living Memory system introduction: branded persistent memory architecture. Comparable to Kindroid's Shared Journal in marketing positioning. Initial observations: by end of week 1, character traits were being correctly referenced across multi-day sessions. Detailed memory test came in week 2.
