Why people leave Nectar AI
Video and voice chat only on the $34.99 Ultimate plan
Premium ($9.99 a month) and Pro ($19.99) raise message, image and context limits and include voice messages, but not video generation or voice chat; those, plus long-term memory, come only with Ultimate at $34.99 a month or $179.99 a year. MyDreamCompanion ($11.99), FantasyGF ($12.99) and Candy AI ($13.99) include calls and video clips on their entry plans, paid from a monthly token allowance, and AI Peeps' $8.99 plan includes live voice chat.
Credits on top, priced per action only inside the app
Voice calls (billed by the minute), videos and video extensions, V3 images, Enhance and some chat models spend credits. Nectar publishes its credit packs ($4.99 for 2,500 up to $199.99 for 135,000), but its help centre only tells you to check the price shown before confirming, so the cost of a clip or a call minute can't be worked out in advance. The Premium and Pro plan descriptions mention no monthly credits; Ultimate includes 2,500.
No iPhone or Android app
Nectar runs only in desktop and mobile browsers, and its help centre suggests adding nectar.ai to your home screen. The "Nectar AI" app on Google Play and "Nectar Companion AI" on the App Store come from other developers. Kindroid and Nomi AI both publish iPhone and Android apps alongside a web version.
15 messages a day on the free plan
The free plan includes 15 messages and 10 image generations a day, a 15-message memory and one custom companion. SpicyChat AI's free plan sets no message limit, and Nomi AI allows 50 messages a day, plus 2 images, without a card or an end date.
Subscription fees are non-refundable
Nectar's terms say paid subscription fees are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, and cancelling doesn't refund the current period; anything else is at Nectar's discretion. Candy AI refunds a subscription if you ask within 24 hours of payment and have used 20 tokens or fewer (card payments only), and SweetDream AI's terms refund a payment in full if 10% or less of its tokens were used. Most other picks are non-refundable as a rule too.
The 8 Nectar AI alternatives
FantasyGF: best for the closest match, with calls on the entry plan
FantasyGF sells the same bundle as Nectar, a companion you design and then text, call and get pictures and short videos of, in a browser. The difference is where calls and video start: on Premium at $12.99 a month or $69.99 a year, against $34.99 or $179.99 for Nectar's Ultimate. It also publishes what each action costs: pictures from 2 tokens, five-second silent clips from 6 and calls at 8 tokens a minute, so Premium's 100 monthly tokens cover up to 50 pictures, 16 such clips or 12 call minutes. Texting never uses tokens, and tokens you don't spend carry over. It scores 8.6/10 overall, ahead of Nectar on Chat (9.0 vs 8.0), Image Generation (9.5 vs 8.5) and Voice (9.0 vs 7.5).
What you give up:
The free plan stops at 16 messages in total (Nectar's gives 15 a day plus 10 images), clips with sound cost 16 to 141 tokens, and group chats beyond a Premium taster need Ultra at $49.99 a month. Token-pack prices appear only after sign-up, it is web-only like Nectar, a subscription can be refunded only before the next billing period begins, and its March 2024 privacy policy says nothing about AI training.
AI Peeps: best for voice chat and clips on an $8.99 plan
AI Peeps' cheapest plan, Peep Chat at $8.99 a month ($7.49 a month billed yearly), makes text chat unlimited and includes live voice conversation: each spoken reply uses one of 600 monthly voice tokens. On Nectar, voice chat starts at $34.99. PeepCoins pay for media at listed prices (an image is 10, a five-second 480p clip 40), so the plan's 300 coins cover about 30 images or 7 clips, and coins bought in packs never expire. You can write characters, import cards made for SillyTavern, Chub, JanitorAI or Character.AI, or choose from a community library AI Peeps puts at more than 100,000. Our score: 9.0/10.
What you give up:
It is browser-only too. Monthly plan coins reset instead of carrying over, the top 15-second 1080p clip runs to 550 coins, Peep Pro lists up to 3 Peeps per group chat against Nectar's 10, and refunds are case by case. AI Peeps' wiki and comparison pages give different plan allowances, and according to the wiki a single developer runs the whole platform.
MyDreamCompanion: best for realistic images plus calls on an $11.99 plan
MyDreamCompanion (Dream Companion) puts voice calls and image and video generation on its $11.99 Premium plan, $23 a month less than Nectar's Ultimate, or $69.99 a year against $179.99. Its per-item prices are stated: 3 coins an image, and 23 coins for the default five-second clip (3 for the base image plus 20 for the clip, per its price table), so Premium's 100 monthly Dream Coins cover about 33 images, 4 such clips or roughly 12 minutes of calls. Chat on Premium is advertised as unlimited, and clips run 5, 10 or 15 seconds. Its Realism (9.2) and Image Generation (9.0) scores are above Nectar's 8.0 and 8.5. Our score: 8.3/10.
What you give up:
Subscriptions are refunded only for the company's errors or technical faults, there is no store app, some users may be asked for an ID or face check through Didit, and extended memory sits on Ultimate at $44.99 a month. Its Video Generation score is 7.8 against Nectar's 8.0, and a pricing test means some visitors may be shown different Premium prices.
Kindroid: best for a phone app with calls and NSFW roleplay
Kindroid fills the gap Nectar leaves on phones: on the App Store it has 4.8 stars (about 10,000 ratings), on Google Play 4.4 (26.4K reviews), and there is a web version as well. It is build-your-own like Nectar, with a personality, key memories, greeting and example messages you write, and voices designed from a description or your own samples. The subscription covers voice calls and live avatar video calls, and its moderation guidelines name NSFW content and erotic roleplay for adults as allowed. The US App Store lists it at $15.99 a month or $159.99 a year, $20 a year below Nectar's Ultimate, and Kindroid says web checkout is usually cheaper. Our score: 8.6/10, with Video Generation at 9.0.
What you give up:
Image Generation scores 7.5 against Nectar's 8.5, and calls run on audio credits whose minutes per pack Kindroid doesn't publish either. There is no ongoing free plan, only a one-off 50-message preview; refunds are discretionary, Kindroid may ban users who dispute charges, and the Ultra memory add-on costs $28.99 a month extra.
Nomi AI: best for free daily chat in iPhone and Android apps
Nomi AI fixes two Nectar complaints at once. Free accounts get 50 messages and 2 images every day, need no card and don't run out after a trial, and the iPhone, Android and web apps share one account. The Standard plan, $99.99 a year ($80 under a year of Nectar's Ultimate) or $15.99 monthly, adds unlimited messages, voice messages and calls with in-house and custom voices Nomi lists as unlimited, group chats and 5- to 15-second videos. Videos use the 40 daily image requests first; beyond that, Nomi publishes the credit price (6 for SD, 10 for HD). Its Mind Map 2.0 shows what your Nomi has linked and lets you edit it. Our score: 8.5/10.
What you give up:
Images are clothed-only on every plan, so adult content stays in text. Live video calls aren't offered, refunds happen only at Nomi's discretion, Video Generation scores 7.0 to Nectar's 8.0, and its safety record drew criticism in a 2025 MIT Technology Review report and in findings Australia's eSafety Commissioner published in March 2026.
Candy AI: best for the cheapest year with video and voice
Candy AI is the cheapest year on this page with media and voice included: $47.88 ($3.99 a month). Every Premium plan has unlimited text plus a 100-token monthly balance for images, clips made from images, voice messages and voice calls, which Candy still labels beta. That is $132.11 less than a year of Nectar's Ultimate and $12.11 less than Nectar's Premium, which has no video or voice chat. Its refund rules leave a narrow way back: ask within 24 hours of payment with 20 or fewer tokens used (card payments only), and EU and UK buyers have a 14-day withdrawal right on a first purchase, minus what they used. Character Depth scores 9.5 against Nectar's 8.5. Our score: 8.5/10.
What you give up:
Candy has the same blind spot as Nectar: the token cost of an image, clip or voice message isn't on its public pages; only Candy Roulette video chat is priced (5 tokens a minute). Free accounts stop at 5 messages in total, there is no store app, leftover tokens expire when a cancelled plan ends, and the terms give EverAI a licence to use your chats for model training and marketing.
SweetDream AI: best for live phone and video calls with featured characters
SweetDream AI is the pick for talking to a character live: Premium covers AI phone calls (browser or your own phone number), plus video calls and Live Cam shows starring its featured characters. Token prices are public: 8 per image, 80 per video, 3 per voice message, and 1 token to start a browser call plus 2 a minute (10 plus 20 a minute to a real phone number), with 400 tokens a month. A year costs $179, within a dollar of Nectar's Ultimate ($179.99), and under its terms a payment is refunded in full on request if 10% or less of its tokens were used. Video Generation scores 9.5 to Nectar's 8.0. Our score: 9.1/10.
What you give up:
On the shortest plan it bills $12.99 every week (about $56.29 a month), 400 tokens stretch to just 5 videos, the per-minute price of video calls isn't stated, and you can't video-call a character you built yourself. There is no store app, and its price list has changed more than once in 2026, so check the plan on the checkout screen.
SpicyChat AI: best for unlimited free NSFW chat
SpicyChat AI sets no message cap and no character-creation limit on its free plan, against Nectar's 15 messages a day, and NSFW roleplay is allowed for adults under written rules, though an IP-based third-party age check gates it in 26 US states, the UK, France, Italy and Australia. Its docs describe no credit or token packs: paid tiers are flat, from $5.95 a month to remove ads and add a Memory Manager. SpicyChat puts its community library at almost a million characters, and its Community score is 9.5 against Nectar's 6.0. Android users can install its app as an APK from the website. Our score: 7.8/10.
What you give up:
It is a text roleplay site: no video or calls, pictures in chat start with the $19.95 True Supporter tier and text-to-speech with the $29.95 I'm All In tier. The free plan shows ads and keeps a 4K context, iPhone users have only the website, nothing is refunded after your login has been used, and the terms warn that operators may read what you send.
What Nectar AI still does better
More free pictures: 10 image generations a day on the free plan, more than any pick's free tier. Nomi AI's gives 2 clothed images a day and AI Peeps' free coins cover about one image a day if you check in daily, while Kindroid's preview (5 selfies), Candy AI's free account (1 image) and FantasyGF's image trial are one-offs; SpicyChat AI's and SweetDream AI's free tiers include no images.
A cheap paid entry: Premium billed yearly costs $59.99 (about $5 a month), less than a year of FantasyGF or MyDreamCompanion ($69.99), AI Peeps' Peep Chat ($7.49 a month) or Nomi AI ($99.99); only Candy AI ($47.88) costs less. Premium has no video or voice chat, though.
Public credit-pack prices, from $4.99 for 2,500 credits to $199.99 for 135,000. FantasyGF and Candy AI show their top-up prices only after sign-up.
Group chats with up to 10 companions, ready-made story scenarios and seven chat models to switch between. SpicyChat AI also allows group chats of up to 10 characters, but without video or calls; FantasyGF's group chats hold two to four companions and need Ultra, and AI Peeps' Peep Pro lists up to 3 Peeps per group chat.
If you're leaving Nectar AI because…
| Reason | Try |
|---|---|
| Video and voice chat only on the $34.99 Ultimate plan | FantasyGF, AI Peeps, MyDreamCompanion, Kindroid, Nomi AI, Candy AI |
| Credits on top, priced per action only inside the app | FantasyGF, AI Peeps, MyDreamCompanion, Nomi AI, SweetDream AI, SpicyChat AI |
| No iPhone or Android app | Kindroid, Nomi AI |
| 15 messages a day on the free plan | SpicyChat AI, Nomi AI |
| Subscription fees are non-refundable | Candy AI, SweetDream AI |
Ultimate's price next to the cheapest picks with video and calls
On Nectar, video and voice chat start with Ultimate: $34.99 a month, or $179.99 billed yearly (about $15 a month), with 2,500 credits a month. The table sets it against the cheapest plan on each pick that includes calls or clips; figures come from our reviews, and yearly per-month amounts are the yearly price divided by 12.
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly | Included each month | Per-action prices public? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nectar AI Ultimate | $34.99 | $179.99 (≈ $15.00/mo) | 2,500 credits (the size of the $4.99 pack), unlimited messages and HD images | No: shown in the app before you confirm |
| AI Peeps Peep Chat | $8.99 | $7.49/mo billed yearly | 300 PeepCoins (≈ 30 images or 7 short clips) and 600 spoken replies | Yes |
| MyDreamCompanion Premium | $11.99 | $69.99 (≈ $5.83/mo) | 100 Dream Coins (about 33 images, 4 default clips or 12 call minutes) | Yes |
| FantasyGF Premium | $12.99 | $69.99 (≈ $5.83/mo) | 100 tokens (up to 50 pictures, 16 silent five-second clips or 12 call minutes) | Yes |
| Candy AI Premium | $13.99 ($9.99 first month) | $47.88 ($3.99/mo) | 100 tokens | Only Candy Roulette video chat (5 tokens a minute) |
| Nomi AI Standard | $15.99 | $99.99 (≈ $8.33/mo) | 40 image requests a day, which videos use first; voice calls | Yes, for credits beyond the allowance |
| Kindroid (US App Store) | $15.99 | $159.99 (≈ $13.33/mo) | Audio credits for calls and video calls, plus selfie credits | Partly: minutes per audio-credit pack not published |
| SweetDream AI Premium | $12.99 a week (≈ $56.29/mo) | $179 (≈ $14.92/mo) | 400 tokens (50 images, 5 videos, or browser calls at 2 tokens a minute) | Yes, except video-call minutes |
Read the clip counts with care, because Nectar's clips are a bigger product: V3 runs 5 to 30 seconds at up to 1080p with generated sound, whereas the clips counted for FantasyGF (6 tokens) and AI Peeps (40 coins) are five-second 480p clips, FantasyGF's without audio. Nectar's cheaper tiers are a separate sum: the Premium and Pro plan descriptions mention no monthly credits, so any paid action there comes out of packs costing $2.00 per 1,000 credits at the small end and $1.48 at the large end. On yearly billing, stepping up to Ultimate costs $60 more than Pro ($119.99) and $120 more than Premium ($59.99).
Cancelling Nectar without losing your companion
- Turn off renewal under Profile > Settings > Subscription and Credits, or ask [email protected] or Nectar's Discord. Paid features run to the end of the period, then the account drops to the free plan.
- Copy your companion first. Nectar's FAQ warns that premium memory features, and possibly chat history kept under a premium tier, may become inaccessible after the drop. Save the personality, backstory, greeting and any custom memories (up to 200 characters each) you want to rebuild.
- Don't count on a refund for the current period. Subscription fees are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, though Nectar may look at requests case by case. If credits were taken for an action that failed, its help centre asks for a ticket with the time, the error and the balance change.
- Look for "Nectar Vixen AI" on your card statement. That is the descriptor in Nectar's checkout text, useful when you check that no renewal went through.
- Leave account deletion for the end. It is a separate request to support and can't be undone.
The full cancellation, refund and privacy rules, with sources, are in our Nectar AI review.
Re-entering a Nectar companion: what each builder asks for
Nectar's builder covers looks, an adult age, personality, backstory, voice and greeting, plus personas (the identity you play) and group chats with up to 10 companions. None of the picks lists Nectar as an import source; AI Peeps, the one pick with an importer, takes cards from Character.AI, SillyTavern, Chub, JanitorAI and RisuAI. Plan to rebuild your companion by hand from the notes you saved:
- Kindroid is built around written fields: personality text of up to 2,000 characters (2,500 with a subscription), a greeting, and optional key memories, a response directive and example messages. Voices can be designed from a description or your own samples.
- Nomi AI steers a companion with Backstory+ and shared notes such as "Inclinations", and each group chat gets its own backstory and Mind Map.
- FantasyGF's builder takes realistic or anime looks, a personality, job, hobbies and relationship type, or a free-text description, and offers 36 preset voices. Premium includes 5 free character creations a month; group chats of two to four companions come with Ultra.
- Candy AI's Create My AI builder covers looks, personality, voice, hobbies and relationship type. Personas and memory slots belong to Premium Plus, whose price isn't public.
OurDream, Soulkyn, Joi and Muah: close to Nectar, but not picks
Our Nectar review counts OurDream AI and Soulkyn among its closest rivals, so here is why they, and two other names that come up, missed this list:
- OurDream AI (7.9/10), the same score as Nectar, includes unlimited messages and 1,000 DreamCoins a month for $19.99, or $119.88 a year, and publishes a coin price for every action. But calls cost 50 coins a minute and standard video 100 coins per five seconds, so a month's coins run out after 20 call minutes, and top-ups are sold only to subscribers. See Nectar AI vs OurDream AI.
- Soulkyn (8.5/10) is also built around your own characters and group scenes, but starts at €24.99 a month, keeps video on a quota on every tier and scores 6.0 for Video Generation (Nectar: 8.0). See Nectar AI vs Soulkyn.
- Joi AI (8.6/10) keeps Premium and Neuron prices behind sign-up, the same blind spot Nectar has with per-action credit costs. It is also left out because joi.com's sitemap, checked on October 24, 2026, included image-generator pages whose titles reference minors, at odds with Joi's own rules on minors. Details in our Joi AI review.
- Muah AI (8.3/10) keeps real-time phone calls for its $99.99-a-month ULTRA VIP tier, and a September 2024 breach exposed 1.9 million email addresses alongside users' prompts. See Muah AI alternatives.

Nectar AI alternatives: FAQ
What is the closest alternative to Nectar AI?
FantasyGF. Like Nectar, it is a browser site where you design a companion, then text, call and get pictures and short videos of her. The difference is where calls and video start: on FantasyGF's $12.99 Premium ($69.99 a year), not a $34.99 top plan, and FantasyGF publishes what each picture, clip and call minute costs in tokens. MyDreamCompanion and Candy AI are the next closest. Side by side: FantasyGF vs Nectar AI.
Is there a free Nectar AI alternative?
SpicyChat AI's free plan has no message cap and unlimited character creation, though it shows ads and keeps a 4K context. Nomi AI gives 50 messages and 2 clothed images a day with no card, in phone apps. AI Peeps has a daily free message allowance that covers NSFW roleplay, but it doesn't publish the number. For free pictures, Nectar's own 10 image generations a day are more than any of these free plans include.
Which Nectar AI alternative is cheaper for video and voice calls?
Month to month, MyDreamCompanion ($11.99), FantasyGF ($12.99) and Candy AI ($13.99) include calls and video on their entry plans, against $34.99 for Nectar's Ultimate, and AI Peeps ($8.99) includes live voice chat with clips paid in PeepCoins. Billed yearly, Candy AI ($47.88), FantasyGF and MyDreamCompanion ($69.99 each) cost well under Ultimate's $179.99. All of them pay for media from a token or coin allowance, as Nectar does.
Is there a Nectar AI app for iPhone or Android?
No. Nectar runs in desktop and mobile browsers and can be added to a phone's home screen. The "Nectar AI" app on Google Play and "Nectar Companion AI" on the App Store come from other developers. If you want an app, Kindroid and Nomi AI both publish iPhone and Android apps; Romantic AI has both too, though its terms and store listings describe no calls or video.
Is TryNectar an alternative to Nectar AI?
No, it is the same service. Nectar's terms name trynectar.ai and nectar.ai as the same site, run by the same company, so prices and reviews under either name describe one platform.
Is Candy AI better than Nectar AI?
It depends on why you're leaving. Candy AI scores 8.5/10 to Nectar's 7.9. Candy includes voice calls and video clips on every Premium plan, from $47.88 a year, where Nectar keeps them on Ultimate ($179.99 a year), and Candy's refund window (24 hours, 20 tokens or fewer used) is written down. Nectar's free plan is far bigger (15 messages and 10 images a day against Candy's 5 messages in total), and Nectar publishes its credit-pack prices, which Candy does not. Neither lists per-item media prices. Side by side: Candy AI vs Nectar AI.
Is Nectar AI safe, or should I switch?
Nectar publishes detailed content rules, checks UK visitors' age through the outside provider go.cam, has a UK office registered at Companies House (Lick Labs Ltd, 16759194), and Have I Been Pwned listed no Nectar breach on October 24, 2026. The weak points are money and data: subscription fees are non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise, signing up means binding arbitration unless you opt out within 30 days, and the privacy policy allows collecting ID data for 'Know Your Customer' checks and sharing non-personal data with advertisers. Details are in our Nectar AI review.
