What our reviews are based on, how we score platforms across eight weighted categories, and how rankings, featured placements and affiliate links work.

We don't accept payment from platforms for placement, scores or reviews. Some platforms are featured partners: they are labelled in our listings and can appear first in them, and that placement does not change their scores, which follow the rubric below.
What our reviews are based on
- •The platform's own website: feature pages, help documentation, model or provider disclosures, and announcements.
- •Pricing pages and plan terms: plan names, prices, limits, credits and billing terms as listed when we review. Prices change often — always check the current price before you subscribe.
- •Terms of service and privacy policies: content rules, age requirements, data handling and cancellation terms.
- •App store listings: whether native iOS or Android apps exist. Store ratings and review counts belong to the store and are cited as such.
- •Public user feedback: recurring themes in subreddits, app store reviews and community forums, summarised in our own words.
How scores work
Each platform gets an editorial score from 0 to 10 in each of eight categories. The overall rating is the weighted average of those scores, rounded to one decimal, using the weights below.
A category for a feature a platform doesn't offer at all scores 3.0. Scores must agree with what the platform documents: on October 10, 2026 we corrected category scores that contradicted it (for example, platforms scored 0 for video that do offer video generation), and recalculated the affected overall ratings.

🖼️Image Generation
Weight 15%Whether the platform generates images at all, the styles it supports, how consistently a character looks across images, and what the plans allow (limits, credits, content settings).
🎬Video Generation
Weight 10%Whether short video or video messages are offered, on which plans, and how they are priced and limited.
🎙️Voice
Weight 10%Whether characters can speak through voice messages or live calls, the voice options on offer, and which plans include them.
🎭Character Depth
Weight 15%How far you can customise a character, the variety of the ready-made library, and how well personalities and backstories carry through conversations.
✨UI / UX
Weight 10%Signup, navigation and settings, whether there are native mobile apps or only a mobile website, and how clear pricing, billing and cancellation are.
🧠Realism
Weight 10%How human the overall experience feels: memory of earlier conversations, emotional range, and the absence of obvious chatbot habits.
👥Community
Weight 10%The size and activity of the platform's community (subreddits, Discord, character sharing) and how visibly the team responds to users.
What we don't do
- ×Publish testimonials we didn't collect. We don't show user reviews, and we don't mark up ratings as reader reviews or aggregate ratings.
- ×Present estimates as measurements. Scores are editorial judgements against the criteria above, not lab results.
- ×Sell placements or scores. Platforms can't pay for a position, a score or a review. Featured partners can be listed first; their scores still come from the same rubric.
Updates and corrections
Platforms change prices, plans and features often. We update reviews when we learn of a change, and each review shows when it was last updated. If something on a review is out of date or wrong, tell us through our contact page and we will check it and correct it.
