How to Export AI Companion Chat History and Data: 28 Platforms (2026)

The short answer

We read the published privacy policies, terms and help pages of 28 AI companion platforms on 2026-10-25. Most of them let you get a copy of your chats and data only by asking for it:

• Self-serve download (5): Kindroid documents an account-wide export and Character.AI an account-level Export Data option. Muah AI, Nastia AI and My Spicy Vanilla offer narrower downloads: a browser backup, single chats, or stories.
• By request (22): AI Peeps, Candy AI, Chai AI, Darlink AI, EVA AI, FantasyGF, GoLove AI, Joi AI, Jupi, Kupid AI, MyDreamCompanion, Nomi AI, OurDream AI, PolyBuzz, Replika, Romantic AI, Secrets AI, Selira AI, Soulkyn AI, SpicyChat AI, SweetDream AI and UDesireAI name a contact for data requests, usually an email address or form.
• Not offered or not documented (1): Nectar AI publishes no export or data-access route.

We count a download as self-serve only if it covers your conversations or stories. Secrets AI's Universe Book and SpicyChat AI's Rulebook files are lore and rules, not chats, so both sit under by request.

Character.AI users: request now. Web: Profile > Profile Settings > Account > Manage Account & Data > Export Data. App: Profile > Settings > Legal & Privacy > Export Data. Exports can take 3-4 weeks and the emailed link lasts 7 days. Character.AI announced a voluntary Chapter 11 process on Oct 12, 2026. Its blog says the sale is expected to finish by the end of November or early December 2026, and that the platform will be wound down if no bid lets it keep operating. Copy your most important chats by hand while you wait.

Replika users: there is no download button. Email [email protected] (details below).

If you live in the EU, the UK or California, the GDPR, the UK GDPR or the CCPA may give you a right to a copy where there is no button; a template is below. An export is a record, not a transfer: none of the platforms we checked documents moving a companion to another app with it (see below).

Menus and policies change often. Check the platform's current page before you act.

"Not documented" means none of the pages we read says it, not that the feature cannot exist.

How we checked

On 2026-10-25 we read each platform's public privacy policy, terms, help centre or FAQ, and store listing where relevant. Of the pages this guide relies on, one (Soulkyn AI's privacy notice) was read from an archived copy dated Sep 9, 2026. Where we cite a platform's interface text, it comes from the public code of its web pages, not from using the app. CompanionRank did not create accounts or request exports, so nothing here describes an export file beyond what the platform publishes. Self-serve downloads

Kindroid

Kindroid publishes the most detailed export documentation we found. Its FAQ (updated Oct 9, 2026) gives the route: Profile > Preferences > Export data under Account privacy > Export, then confirm. A download link goes to your verified account email and expires after 7 days. The single .jsonl (JSON Lines) file covers your Kindroids and their settings, chat history including group chats and Rooms, journal entries, selfies, avatars and custom voices. Photos and videos arrive as links, not files. You can export once every 30 days, or email [email protected] if you need a copy sooner. Read-only accounts can still export.

Character.AI

Character.AI's help article (edited Oct 8, 2026) documents an Export Data option for a copy of your account data, at the web and app paths given in the short answer. Exports can take 3-4 weeks, and the link sent to your account email is valid for 7 days. An older article titled "How do I export all my data? How can I export my chats?" (edited July 10, 2025) presents the feature as the way to export chats, with the app label Export my data. Neither article lists what the file contains, so whether it includes every chat is not documented, and nor are format or frequency limits. Thinking of switching? See our Character.AI alternatives.

Muah AI

Muah AI's user guide (marked as reviewed on Oct 3, 2026) lists CLOUD > Download Data, which builds a .muah backup from the chat data stored in your current browser. Muah says this is not a full download of its server records, and a backup restores only to the same account ID, replacing local data rather than merging. Export Chat saves the open conversation as PNG or HTML. Media can be stored as links, so the guide suggests downloading favourite images separately. For anything else, the privacy policy (effective May 17, 2022) lists access and transfer rights via [email protected].

Nastia AI

Nastia AI's help centre says you can download conversation history from each chat's settings and save images and videos individually. There is no one-click export, and the file format is not documented. The privacy policy (Sep 16, 2026) also accepts access or export requests at [email protected]. The help centre says account deletion takes effect immediately, so save first.

My Spicy Vanilla

My Spicy Vanilla exports stories, not whole accounts. Open a chapter you wrote, click Download, choose Story as PDF, EPUB or DOCX, then pick PDF, EPUB, DOCX or HTML. Its export tutorial says PDF and HTML are free for a single chapter, while EPUB, DOCX (in beta) and multi-chapter files need Premium. Limits: 100 chapters per file, 250 images per EPUB or DOCX, one export at a time, and the file is deleted after 24 hours. Narration downloads separately as MP3. Character portraits, character and location profiles, plugins, Writing Pack notes, club comments and stories flagged by moderation are excluded; for those, send a data request to [email protected].

Export by request

These platforms document no download of your chats. Unless noted, no file format, turnaround or frequency limit is stated. Send your request from your account email; the template below covers what to ask for.

AI Peeps

AI Peeps' privacy policy, terms, deletion page and wiki document no self-serve export of account data or chat history. Apart from importing character cards and chats from other apps, the only related line is the policy's note that AI-generated content "may be stored" in your account so you can view, download, reuse or manage it. The privacy policy (May 28, 2026) offers a copy of your data and machine-readable portability, where technically feasible and legally required, via [email protected], and aims to reply usually within one business day.

Candy AI

Candy AI's help centre has no data-export article. Its Privacy Notice (revised Oct 19, 2026) offers a copy under Article 15 GDPR, plus machine-readable portability or direct transfer to another company, via [email protected] (Data Protection Officer: [email protected]), and aims to answer within one month.

Chai AI

Chai AI runs the Chai app and Chai Web as separate platforms that share no data, so ask the right one. Both privacy policies frame access and portability as rights for EU and UK users; the app policy (Oct 12, 2026) adds direct transfer to another company. App users write to [email protected] or [email protected], Chai Web users to [email protected].

Darlink AI

Darlink AI's privacy policy (August 2025) offers a copy of your data in a usable format via [email protected]. Its terms say content is not guaranteed to be saved and backups are your responsibility.

EVA AI

EVA AI's privacy policy (June 3, 2026) gives EU users a copy once they prove their identity, provided it does not harm others' rights, plus machine-readable portability. Users in listed US states can make verifiable access requests; Japan users may be charged a fee. Write to [email protected].

FantasyGF

FantasyGF's privacy policy (March 11, 2024) says you can ask [email protected] for access to the personal information you provided. Nothing more about format or timing is published.

GoLove AI

GoLove AI's privacy policy (revised Dec 23, 2024) gives a right to a copy of your data via [email protected], with a one-month target. Interface text in GoLove's public app page code says generations are not guaranteed to be saved after a subscription ends.

Joi AI

Joi AI shares EVA AI's operator, NOVI LIMITED, and its privacy policy (June 4, 2026) describes the same rights, including identity proof before a copy. Send requests to [email protected]; its Help Center has no article on data requests.

Jupi

Jupi's contact page says to email [email protected] from your account address to ask for a copy of your data, and its terms list a GDPR portability right. The terms also say in-app chat history is stored on your device and is removed if you delete the app or clear browser data. Whether a data request returns chat text is not documented.

Kupid AI

Kupid AI's privacy policy (revised in 2023) gives a right to a copy via [email protected], with a one-month target. Interface text in Kupid's public homepage code includes a cancellation option warning that custom models, custom images, received voice messages and chat history with premium bots will be deleted in 30 days, alongside an offer of $3.99 a month to keep that data.

MyDreamCompanion

MyDreamCompanion's privacy policy (Oct 9, 2026) offers an access request and machine-readable portability, sent to you or a third party you choose, via [email protected]. Portability covers only automated information you provided with consent, or that is used to perform a contract with you. It aims to reply within one month, requests are usually free, and it may verify your identity.

Nomi AI

Nomi AI's privacy policy (April 27, 2026) says your rights to access or transfer data depend on applicable law. Contact [email protected], or write to Glimpse.ai, Inc., Attn: Privacy, at the Baltimore address in the policy.

OurDream AI

OurDream AI's privacy policy (Aug 26, 2026) offers, depending on your jurisdiction, a copy of certain data and transfer to another provider via [email protected] or [email protected], with identity checks and a one-month target. Its help centre says to download generated images and videos before unsubscribing, because they are blurred afterwards.

PolyBuzz

PolyBuzz's web privacy policy (June 1, 2026) offers a copy via [email protected], generally within 30 days of receipt and identity verification, and does not ordinarily charge. It may refuse requests on several grounds, including ones that are repetitive without good cause or need excessive technical investment. Virginia residents use [email protected]; PolyBuzz says it responds within 45 days (extendable by 45), and the Virginia section includes a right to a portable copy. The app runs under a separate policy that names [email protected].

Replika

As of 2026-10-25, Replika's help centre documents no self-serve download, and searching it for export, download or data request returns no export article. The privacy policy (May 27, 2026) offers, depending on your location, a copy of your data, in a portable, machine-readable format where applicable, via [email protected], and Replika may ask you to confirm your identity. The help centre says the app shows chat history only for the past four months, and older conversations cannot be displayed or retrieved. Whether a request returns older conversations is not documented, so ask for "all chat history you hold, including messages older than four months" and copy anything still visible now.

Romantic AI

Romantic AI's web privacy policy (Sep 16, 2026) offers access and portability via [email protected], with a reply within one month unless the law allows an extension. The app privacy policy linked from its store listings (March 17, 2025) names [email protected] and requires identity proof. Use the contact that matches where you signed up.

Secrets AI

Secrets AI's wiki says file transfers cover Universe Books, not complete chat backups, and memory export is not currently available. Premium and Ultimate users can export a Universe Book as .json (Lorebooks > Universes > Book actions > Export as JSON), and the site shows download buttons for generated images and videos. Universe Books are lorebooks, not chats, so Secrets AI counts as by request here. For chats, write to [email protected]; the privacy policy (April 10, 2026) promises replies within 30 days for EEA and UK users and 45 days for California requests.

Selira AI

Selira AI's privacy policy (Oct 14, 2026) offers access and machine-readable portability. Email [email protected] with the subject Privacy Rights Request, including your full name, account email and what you want; it promises a reply within 30 days. Its Contact page FAQ says account deletion removes all data within 48 hours, so request first.

Soulkyn AI

Soulkyn AI's privacy notice (read from an archived copy dated Sep 9, 2026) gives a right of access and lists portability. It names only "Support" as the contact; the site's page data lists [email protected]. Soulkyn aims to answer within one month. Its Export Chat is not a private download: its FAQ says exported chat logs are shared publicly on your profile and in the community.

SpicyChat AI

SpicyChat AI's help centre returns no articles for export or GDPR, and its docs mention exports only for Rulebooks (.json) and creator analytics (CSV). The privacy policy (May 4, 2023) lets you request access to personal information you provided, via [email protected] or the support ticket form. The help centre says chats are not accessible to the support team, though the terms say operators may read messages; whether a request returns chat text is not documented.

SweetDream AI

SweetDream AI's privacy policy (Jan 15, 2024) offers a copy of your data in a portable format through [email protected] or its contact form. The same policy says inactive accounts are deleted after two years of inactivity.

UDesireAI

UDesireAI's privacy policy (effective June 10, 2025) gives a right of access, plus GDPR portability for UK and EEA users, exercised through account settings or [email protected]. The policy does not say which setting, and we found no help page describing an export button, so email [email protected].

Not offered or not documented

Nectar AI

Nectar AI documents no export, download or data-access route. Its privacy policy (last updated Jan 28, 2026) lists only one user right: opting out of marketing. Nectar's docs mention a community Chrome extension, Chat Toolkit, listed in the Community tab and described as able to export chats, and advise checking its description and permissions before installing. Its FAQ prohibits automated scraping and mass or systematic extraction of platform content, without saying whether saving your own chats counts. You can still email [email protected], which promises a reply within 5 business days; whether Nectar treats that as a legal access request is not documented.

No export button? Ask for a copy under GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA

If a data-protection law covers you, you can make a legal request even when settings offer nothing. Several platforms tie these rights to where you live (Replika, OurDream, Nomi and Chai say so), so read the policy's rights section first. CompanionRank is not a law firm; this summarises the law texts and regulator pages we read.

Which right to name

• Access (GDPR Article 15, the UK GDPR, or California's right to know): a copy of your data plus information such as the purposes and recipients. The ICO calls this a subject access request (SAR or DSAR). The CCPA covers the categories and specific pieces of personal information a business collected about you.
• Portability (GDPR Article 20): the data you provided, in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, sent to you or directly to another company where technically feasible. It applies only when processing rests on consent or a contract and is automated. Because it covers what you provided, the AI's replies may fall outside it, so name the access right too. None of the request-based policies we read says whether its copy includes the AI's replies.

Deadlines, cost and identity checks

The GDPR gives the company one month from receipt, extendable by two more months for complex or numerous requests if it tells you within the first month, with reasons. The ICO gives the same timing for the UK, but if a company asks for ID, the clock starts only once it has what it needs. The CCPA allows 45 days from receipt of a verifiable consumer request, extendable once by 45 days with notice. Its regulations add that receipt must be confirmed within 10 business days, that the 45 days run from receipt however long verification takes, and that a request the business cannot verify within 45 days may be denied. Requests are normally free; under the GDPR, further copies may carry a reasonable fee.

Outside the EU, the UK and California, send the same email anyway; whether the company must answer depends on your local law and its own policy. The rights-by-region table in our AI girlfriend safety guide covers other US states, Canada and Australia, and where to complain.

What to include

The provisions we read set no required wording, and the company may verify your identity before answering. In practice, a clear request includes:

1. Who you are. Send from your account email and give your username. Companies may ask for more: EVA AI and Joi AI require proof of identity before sending a copy, Kindroid's privacy policy verifies rights requests sent from the registered email, and Jupi asks you to write from your account address.
2. The right you are using (recommended): access, portability, or both.
3. What you want: your full chat history, including the AI's replies, plus characters, memories, generated media and billing records, as a machine-readable file.

A data request template you can adapt

Subject: Personal data access request, [account email]

Hello. I use [platform] under the account [email or username] and am writing from that account's email address. Under Article 15 GDPR [UK: the UK GDPR; California: Civil Code section 1798.110], please confirm whether you process my personal data and send me a copy, including my full chat history (my messages and the AI characters' replies, with timestamps), the characters I created, memories, generated images and audio, and account and billing records, together with the purposes, recipients and retention periods.

[If the GDPR applies, or your privacy policy lists a portability right:] Under Article 20 GDPR, please also send the data I provided in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format such as JSON or CSV. [California: please provide it in a portable, readily usable format.]

Please confirm receipt and respond within the legal deadline (one month under the GDPR or UK GDPR, 45 days under the CCPA).

What an export can and cannot do

An export is a record of your messages, settings and what a company holds. It does not move a companion to another app: Kindroid's file is JSON Lines text, Muah's backup restores only to the same Muah account, and Character.AI does not document its format. Apart from AI Peeps' mentions of importing character cards and chats (we did not check which formats they accept), no page we read describes importing another platform's export, and none documents a companion app accepting a GDPR direct transfer. Safe manual backups

While you wait for an export, or where there is none:

• Copy your own messages into a text file on your device, plus your character's description and backstory. Darlink's terms make this your job, and Candy AI's help centre suggests copying important information before deleting a chat.
• Take screenshots of character settings and key conversations.
• Save media with the platform's own download button or your browser's save option, as Candy AI's help centre describes for videos.
• Store backups privately, for example in an encrypted folder or on an offline drive, not in a shared cloud account.

Be wary of browser extensions and outside services that promise to export AI chats. An extension that can read your chat page can read everything on it. If you cannot confirm who publishes it, what it can access and where it sends data, copy by hand instead. Our guide to spotting shady AI companion sites covers similar warning signs.

Why export before a shutdown or a deletion

• Shutdowns and sales. Once a platform goes dark, its export button goes with it, and a data request depends on the company still answering. Our account of the Girlfriend.ai, Porn.ai and Cuties.ai shutdowns shows what paid users were left with.
• Inactivity and lapsed plans. Candy AI's terms allow removing account content after periods of inactivity, and Nectar AI says premium chat history may become inaccessible when a subscription ends. SweetDream AI, Kupid AI and OurDream AI have similar rules (details in each entry).
• Deletion. Deleting is often fast and exporting slow: Nastia AI's help centre says deletion takes effect immediately, while Character.AI says exports can take 3-4 weeks. Request the export, download it, check that it opens, then delete. Kindroid gives photos and videos as links, and Muah's backup may store media as links; whether those links keep working after you delete the account is not documented, so open each one and save the files themselves first. Frequently Asked Questions

Can you export Character.AI chats?

Character.AI documents an Export Data option for a copy of your account data: on the web under Profile > Profile Settings > Account > Manage Account & Data, and in the app under Profile > Settings > Legal & Privacy. Its help article does not say what the file contains, so whether it includes every chat is not documented. As of 2026-10-25, exports can take 3-4 weeks; with the company in a Chapter 11 sale, request early.

How do I download my Replika chat history?

Replika documents no download button. Email [email protected] and ask for all chat history it holds, including messages older than four months. Its privacy policy offers a copy, in a portable, machine-readable format where applicable, depending on where you live. The app itself shows only the last four months of chats, so copy anything still visible now.

Which AI girlfriend apps let you export chats yourself?

Of the 28 platforms we checked, five document a self-serve download: Kindroid and Character.AI at account level (Character.AI's file contents are not documented), and Muah AI, Nastia AI and My Spicy Vanilla for narrower data. The rest work by request, and Nectar AI documents no route.

How do I get a copy of my data, and how long does it take?

Email the platform's privacy contact from your account address, name the right you are using (access, plus portability if it applies) and list the data you want: chat history, characters, memories and media. If the GDPR or UK GDPR covers you, the company has one month, extendable by two more for complex or numerous requests if it tells you within the first month. If the CCPA covers you, it has 45 calendar days, extendable once by 45 with notice. Elsewhere, timing depends on local law and the platform's policy.

Can I move my AI girlfriend to another app with an export?

Not directly. Apart from AI Peeps' import pages, whose formats we did not check, no page we read describes importing another platform's export. Use the file as a reference and rebuild the character by hand.

Are browser extensions that export AI chats safe?

Not by default. An extension that can read your chat page sees everything on it. Check the publisher, its permissions and where it sends data. Nectar AI's FAQ also prohibits automated scraping and mass or systematic extraction of platform content, without saying whether saving your own chats counts.
