PolyBuzz (formerly Poly.AI) Alternatives: 7 iPhone & NSFW Picks (2026)
Last updated How we score
Our PolyBuzz review (7.1/10)PolyBuzz vs other apps
The apps below are for adults 18+. PolyBuzz's terms set the same minimum, although its FAQ still mentions a "Teen Mode". On adult content the picks split three ways. SpicyChat AI, Kindroid, AI Peeps and SweetDream AI permit it for adults; Romantic AI gates it with an on/off NSFW toggle. Nomi AI advertises unfiltered text chat but keeps images clothed. Replika's terms bar pornographic content. Kindroid, Nomi AI, Replika and Romantic AI also work as everyday companion apps with no adult content involved.
Quick answer
Closest swap: SpicyChat AI, a community character library (almost a million bots, per SpicyChat) with unlimited free messages on its plan table and adult roleplay, though it lacks an iPhone app too. On iPhone, Kindroid (NSFW allowed, layered memory) and Nomi AI (50 free messages a day) are native apps, and Replika covers safe-for-work chat. AI Peeps imports character cards; SweetDream AI prices every image and video in tokens.

Why people leave PolyBuzz
The iPhone app is gone from the US App Store
Apple's App Store lookup for PolyBuzz's listing (ID 6449190344) came back empty for the US storefront on October 24, 2026, and the old listing page now returns a 404; lookups for the UK, German and Turkish stores are empty as well. The listing was still live on October 10, 2026, and neither PolyBuzz nor Apple has given a reason. PolyBuzz remains available on the web at polybuzz.ai and as an Android app on Google Play.
Sexual content is banned, despite "Unrestricted" marketing
PolyBuzz's FAQ markets "Free, Private, and Unrestricted" character chats, but its terms ban content that depicts pornography or sexual acts or solicits sexual content, and they make no exception for private chats. Public NSFW content is prohibited, and a character flagged as a "Violation" becomes visible only to its creator.
Permanent Memory is locked to the $29.90 tier
Every membership includes Long Memory, but Permanent Memory, the only memory upgrade above it, comes with Ultimate alone: $29.90 a month or $299 a year on PolyBuzz's US web price list. Its FAQ adds that memory capacity is "technically limited" and that characters may "forget" earlier conversations over time.
Ads until you pay, and no published free limit
Free use shows ads: Google Play labels the app "Contains ads". Removing them takes a membership from $9.90 a month, which also sells "Unlimited chats" and priority over the queue, although PolyBuzz's FAQ describes its free chats as "unlimited". PolyBuzz doesn't publish what the free plan's limit actually is.
Coins pay for extras, with no price per action
Coins (from $2.49 for 1,000 to $19.90 for 20,000 on the US price list) pay for premium-model rounds, Live Photos, regenerated and "Inspiration" replies and unlocking Moments, but the coins page doesn't say how many coins each one costs, and a second balance, Opals, lists no prices at all. Under the terms, payments aren't refunded, even after you cancel.
The 7 PolyBuzz alternatives
SpicyChat AI: best for a big community character library
SpicyChat AI (7.8/10) is built like PolyBuzz: a public catalogue of user-built characters, which SpicyChat numbers at almost a million, browsable by tag, plus a creator for your own bots, which can stay private, unlisted or public. SpicyChat's plan table puts no cap on free messages or character creation. The Get A Taste tier ($5.95 monthly, $60 yearly) drops the ads and adds a Memory Manager for hand-written, pinnable memories of up to 250 characters each. Where PolyBuzz bans sexual content, SpicyChat permits adult roleplay, with written bans on minors, real people and non-consensual scenarios. Scenes can hold 2 to 10 characters, and Lorebooks (keyword-triggered world notes) and Director Mode (out-of-story instructions) help steer long stories.
What you give up:
A store app on iPhone, here too. Apple removed SpicyChat from the App Store in August 2025; iPhone owners now open spicychat.ai in Safari or save it to the home screen, and Android users install an APK downloaded from spicychat.ai, since it isn't on Google Play. The free and $5.95 tiers share a 4,096-token context, which SpicyChat puts at roughly 20 recent messages, and automatic Semantic Memory starts at $19.95 a month. There are no voice calls. SpicyChat's refund policy rules out refunds once the login has been used, and where local age-check laws apply (the UK and 26 US states among them), NSFW stays off until an outside provider confirms you are an adult.
Kindroid: best iPhone app for adult roleplay and memory
Kindroid (8.6/10) has native iPhone and Android apps plus a web version, which covers the gap PolyBuzz left on iPhone. Its moderation guidelines explicitly permit NSFW content and erotic roleplay for adults; paying verifies age, and flagged free accounts go through Yoti. Memory comes in layers: long-term memory that consolidates past chats automatically, Cascaded Memory, Learned Context notes you can edit, and journal entries recalled by keyphrase. The standard subscription includes all of them and is listed on the US App Store at $15.99 monthly or $159.99 yearly (about $13.33 a month), while PolyBuzz charges $29.90 a month for Ultimate, its only tier with Permanent Memory. Subscribers also get voice calls, live avatar video calls, 20 group chats and a choice of models led by Polaris.
What you give up:
An ongoing free plan and a ready-made catalogue. Kindroid retired its free Lite tier on October 1, 2026: a new account's free use is a single preview of 50 messages (15 in some regions), after which only the 3-day trial or a subscription keeps it going. You write each Kindroid yourself (name, avatar, personality, greeting), with AI drafting as a shortcut, instead of choosing from a public library like PolyBuzz's. Refunds are at Kindroid's discretion, and web prices show only at checkout.
Nomi AI: best free plan in a phone app
Nomi AI (8.5/10) is the pick for a free plan that doesn't end: Nomi publishes the limit (50 messages and 2 images a day), asks for no card and includes memory, on iPhone and iPad, Android and the web under one account. Recall is built in layers (short-, medium- and long-term), and Mind Map 2.0 turns what a Nomi has linked together into a graph and a searchable table that you can edit. Paying means Standard: $99.99 for a year (roughly $8.33 a month, within a dollar of PolyBuzz Basic's $99 yearly price) or $15.99 month to month; it removes the message cap and adds voice calls, group chats and room for up to 10 Nomis.
What you give up:
A browsable character library and explicit images. Nomi has no public catalogue of ready-made bots; every companion starts from a backstory you write. Nomi markets its text chat as unfiltered, yet bans nude images on every plan. Free messages max out at 400 characters, voice and group chats are Standard-only, and Nomi refunds only at its own discretion.
AI Peeps: best for importing character cards
AI Peeps (9.0/10) suits PolyBuzz creators who already keep character cards. It reads cards from Character.AI, SillyTavern, Chub, JanitorAI and RisuAI, can bring chat history across as well, and counts more than 100,000 community characters by its own figures. Any paid plan removes the per-message cost, beginning with Peep Chat ($8.99 a month; $7.49 a month if billed yearly). Free accounts can use adult roleplay too. Media has a published price list in PeepCoins, 10 per image and 40 or more per video clip, and AI Peeps says failed generations cost nothing. Voice messages and live voice chat are included, and paid plans add group chats with several Peeps.
What you give up:
Phone apps and one predictable bill. AI Peeps is a browser platform (installable as a web app) with no App Store or Google Play chat app, so it can't stand in for PolyBuzz's Android app. The free daily message allowance is unpublished and shrinks to 10 for people who hit it several days running, subscription coins reset each month, only Peep Pro ($29.99 a month) lets you edit memories, and refunds are judged case by case.
Romantic AI: best for ready-made characters on iPhone and Android
Romantic AI (7.6/10) fits PolyBuzz users who picked characters rather than wrote them and want an app from the store. Its catalogue of pre-made girlfriend, boyfriend and anime characters can be filtered by tag, and a character builder offers photo-realistic or anime looks; it runs in the browser and as iPhone and Android apps. Adult chat is controlled by an NSFW on/off switch, with "spicy" replies unblurred on Premium. The US App Store lists Premium at $14.99 monthly or $44.99 yearly; the yearly plan is about $3.75 a month, less than half of PolyBuzz Basic's $99 year.
What you give up:
Calls, a large creator community and clear prices for extras. Romantic AI's terms and app listings mention no voice or video calls, and our Community score for Romantic AI is 5.5, against PolyBuzz's 7.5. Hearts, a second currency, pay for photos, audio clips and gifts at rates Romantic AI doesn't publish. Subscriptions are final unless there was an error or technical fault, the Android app contains ads, and anonymised chats feed its model training.
SweetDream AI: best for calls and media with published token prices
SweetDream AI (9.1/10) leads our overall ratings and answers PolyBuzz's two weakest categories: our image and video scores are 9.0 and 9.5 for SweetDream, 4.0 and 4.0 for PolyBuzz. SweetDream lists a token price for each action in advance: 8 tokens for an image, 80 for a video, 3 for a voice message. Premium comes with 400 tokens a month and unlocks live AI phone calls and video calls, the latter with featured characters only. Premium members can also design a character's looks, voice and personality, anime styles included, and SweetDream's terms allow adult content.
What you give up:
Low prices and store apps. On the list recorded on October 10, 2026, weekly Premium billing costs $12.99 (about $56.29 a month), the 3-month plan $79 and the yearly plan $179 (about $14.92 a month); SweetDream has used several price lists in 2026, so the checkout figure is the one that counts. It runs only in the browser. Without Premium you're limited to a daily message allowance and SweetDream's ready-made characters, video calls are limited to featured characters, and a full refund is guaranteed only if 10% or less of a payment's tokens were used.
Replika: best safe-for-work companion app
Replika (7.4/10) is for PolyBuzz users who never wanted adult content and do want a native iPhone app; it has been on the App Store since 2017, with Android, web and Meta Quest (beta) versions too. Texting your one companion costs nothing, and Replika states no message cap. Paid plans on the US App Store begin at $7.99 monthly or $49.99 yearly, which works out to about $4.17 a month. What your Replika remembers sits in a Memory tab, where entries can be viewed, added and deleted, and Pro unlocks voice calls, the romantic relationship status and image generation.
What you give up:
Variety and adult roleplay. You get a single companion per account and no character library to browse, and the terms prohibit obscene or pornographic content. The App Store listing doesn't say which tier each price buys, every purchase is final, and Italy's data-protection authority fined Replika's maker, Luka, €5 million in 2025.
What PolyBuzz still does better
No card and no trial clock: chatting with public characters and building your own are free, and PolyBuzz's FAQ says the web version adds free image generation. Kindroid has offered only a one-off 50-message preview since October 1, 2026, and SweetDream's free tier covers daily messages with its ready-made characters only.
Catalogue size: PolyBuzz claims over 20 million user-built characters, sorted under tags such as Anime, OC, Fantasy, Horror, Game, RPG, BL and GL. For comparison, SpicyChat's own count is almost a million and AI Peeps' is 100,000+; Kindroid, Nomi and Replika have no public catalogue and are built around companions you create.
A Google Play app rated 4.0 across roughly 1.19 million reviews, with more than 50 million installs. SpicyChat distributes its Android app as a download from spicychat.ai, and AI Peeps and SweetDream run only in the browser.
Creator rewards: under its Community Contributor program, every two coins that other users spend on a creator's characters earn that creator one Poin, and a balance of 100,000 Poins can be exchanged for rewards. Google Play's listing carries a "Cash Rewards" label.

If PolyBuzz disappeared from your iPhone
Apple's US store has no PolyBuzz app as of October 24, 2026, and PolyBuzz hasn't said whether copies already on iPhones will keep working. Three things are still in your hands:
- Use the browser. Chat, character creation, image generation and membership checkout all run on polybuzz.ai.
- Manage an Apple-billed membership. PolyBuzz's FAQ sends App Store subscribers to iPhone Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions to cancel.
- Switch devices. The Google Play app is still listed for Android; its last update was October 19, 2026.
This category has been here before. After Apple removed SpicyChat's app in August 2025, SpicyChat told users that installed copies would stop working after September 25, 2025; PolyBuzz hasn't made a statement like that. Meanwhile an App Store search for "PolyBuzz" brings up apps from other developers, among them "PollyBuzz: AI Chat Characters" and "Poly Character AI: Boyfriend".
Paying for memory: PolyBuzz Ultimate against the picks
| App | Memory, as the platform describes it | Plan and price |
|---|---|---|
| PolyBuzz | Long Memory; Permanent Memory on Ultimate only. The FAQ calls capacity "technically limited" | Basic $9.90/mo ($99/yr); Ultimate $29.90/mo ($299/yr) |
| Nomi AI | Three memory layers (short, medium, long term) and an editable Mind Map 2.0 | Free plan includes memory; Standard $15.99/mo ($99.99/yr) |
| Kindroid | Cascaded Memory, auto-consolidated long-term memory, Learned Context (editable), keyphrase journal | Standard $15.99/mo ($159.99/yr, US App Store) |
| SpicyChat AI | Memory Manager (add, edit, pin); automatic Semantic Memory 2.0 | $5.95/mo ($60/yr); Semantic Memory from $19.95/mo ($199.95/yr) |
| AI Peeps | 1 to 20 memory slots per Peep, editable and pinnable on Pro | 5 view-only slots from $8.99/mo; 20 editable on Peep Pro, $29.99/mo |
| Replika | Memory tab to view, add and delete entries | Tier not stated; annual plans $49.99 or $69.99 |
A year of PolyBuzz Ultimate ($299) costs $199.01 more than a year of Nomi Standard and $139.01 more than Kindroid's yearly plan. SpicyChat's Memory Manager tier costs $60 a year, $39 less than PolyBuzz Basic, but keeps a 4K context. PolyBuzz's model ladder has counterparts too: Kindroid subscribers choose between Polaris and older models, and SpicyChat's top tier adds SpicyXL.
On extras, PolyBuzz's coins fall from about $2.49 to $1.00 per 1,000 as packs get bigger, but no per-action price is published. On SweetDream, a 400-token pack costs $9.99, which works out to about 20 cents an image (8 tokens) or about $2 a video (80 tokens). On AI Peeps, 900 PeepCoins cost $10, about 11 cents an image at 10 coins each. Refunds won't soften a switch much on any of the picks. SpicyChat and Replika treat sales as final, Romantic AI considers refunds only when it made a billing error or a technical fault hit the service, Nomi AI, Kindroid and AI Peeps decide at their discretion, and SweetDream refunds a payment in full only if 10% or less of its tokens were used.
Moving your characters off PolyBuzz
PolyBuzz's FAQ describes importing character cards and JSON files on the web (from Character.AI, Pygmalion, Zoltanai, Text Generation, TavernAI and others), not exporting them. Before you leave:
- Keep any original cards. If a character began as a card file, AI Peeps can take the same file, and its importer also brings over chat history.
- Copy what you wrote. For characters you built in PolyBuzz, save the name, story, greeting and tags. They map onto SpicyChat's creator, Kindroid's personality and greeting fields, or a Nomi backstory.
- Ask for your data. PolyBuzz's privacy policy says you can contact it for a copy of the user information it holds.
- Settle Poins. Community Contributor creators can exchange up to 80% of their balance at a time once it reaches 100,000 Poins.
- Cancel through the channel you paid. A Google Play subscription ends under Subscriptions in the Play Store, an Apple one in iPhone Settings, and a web membership via Settings → Help Center. Paid benefits run to the end of the period, and the terms rule out refunds. Settings → Account → Delete becomes available only after paid services have expired. Step-by-step details are in our PolyBuzz review.
Character.AI, Chai, Janitor AI and other roleplay apps
Other lists of PolyBuzz alternatives often name Character.AI, Chai, Janitor AI, CrushOn AI and Talkie. CompanionRank doesn't review those apps, so they aren't ranked here; the reviewed options for each are on our alternatives pages for Character.AI, Chai, Janitor AI and CrushOn AI. Jupi, once a PolyBuzz-style character-chat app on iPhone, became a filtered life-sim with AI residents in version 3.0 (October 12, 2026), so it is no longer a like-for-like swap (details in our Jupi review). If SpicyChat AI is already on your shortlist, our SpicyChat AI alternatives page compares it with the rest.
PolyBuzz alternatives: FAQ
Is there a free PolyBuzz alternative?
Nomi AI gives a set daily allowance in all three of its apps (iPhone, Android, web): 50 messages and 2 images, without a credit card. SpicyChat AI puts no cap on free messages or character creation, according to its plan table, but shows ads and keeps a 4K context. Replika lets you text its single safe-for-work companion for free, with no limit stated. AI Peeps and SweetDream AI hand out daily free messages without saying how many, and Kindroid's free use is now a one-off 50-message preview.
What's the closest app to PolyBuzz?
SpicyChat AI. Like PolyBuzz, it is built around a large library of community-made characters that you can browse by tag, chat with for free or add to with its own creator. The differences: SpicyChat allows adult roleplay for 18+ users, removes ads from $5.95 a month, and has no iPhone app either. Our PolyBuzz vs SpicyChat AI page sets the two side by side.
Which PolyBuzz alternatives work on iPhone?
Four picks have native apps on the US App Store: Kindroid, Nomi AI, Replika and Romantic AI. SpicyChat AI's website can be added to an iPhone home screen, and AI Peeps and SweetDream AI run in Safari or any other browser. When searching the App Store, note that "PollyBuzz: AI Chat Characters" is a different developer's app, not PolyBuzz.
Is there a PolyBuzz alternative with no filter?
PolyBuzz's terms ban sexual content. Adult roleplay for 18+ users is allowed on SpicyChat AI, Kindroid, AI Peeps and SweetDream AI, and Romantic AI lets you switch NSFW chat on. Nomi AI advertises unfiltered text chat but bans nude images, and Replika's terms bar pornographic content. The five that allow adult content all ban sexual content involving minors, and SpicyChat asks for an age check before NSFW in some regions.
Is PolyBuzz safe?
It is a real, widely installed app: 50M+ Google Play downloads, published by Cloud Whale Interactive Technology LLC (Delaware), with the website run by Singularity Mutual Entertainment Culture Media Limited in Hong Kong. The cautions come from its own disclosures: Google Play's Data safety section lists approximate and precise location among the data PolyBuzz may pass to third parties for advertising or marketing, the privacy policy says uploaded photos may be used to train its AI, and payments aren't refunded. Unofficial "PolyBuzz Mod APK" builds aren't PolyBuzz's, and its terms say it may refuse service to their users. Details are in our PolyBuzz review.
Is Poly AI the same as PolyBuzz?
Yes, if you mean the character-chat app. According to Internet Archive captures, the same Google Play listing was titled "PolySpeak - AI Character Chat" in October 2023 and "Poly.AI - Create AI Chat Bot" in 2024, and read "PolyBuzz:formerly Poly.AI" by December 2024; today it is "PolyBuzz: Chat with AI Friends". It is unrelated to PolyAI (poly.ai), an enterprise voice-AI company.
