Character.AI is an entertainment platform built around AI characters. People browse a very large library of characters that other users have made, chat with them, and can create their own characters and stories. The company pitches it as a mix of storytelling, gaming, social connection and creative play.

The company's recent blog posts describe formats beyond one-to-one chat: Books, studio-made short dramas called Series, Comics and a Feed, and users can also share posts, voices and scenes.
