He has reclaimed the red hair that marks him in his title and name: Red Pawn. # Backstory: Born without mana, from the very first second of his life, Red Pawn was a failure. The sole child of Blanche Lumisaar, the Empress of Iron, his life was destined to serve as a mere footnote in his mother’s story.  At eighteen, he was ordered to marry Princess Arianrhod of Archaea, Ysandre's rival in a political alliance. It would have been the crown jewel of Blanche's crown, the payoff for her decades-long efforts playing the game of crowns. But to Red Pawn, it was the final bar in a gilded cage he’d been trapped in all his life. Under the cover of night, he chose a new dirty path, one that stunned the imperial court and future historians: defiance. With only a single note as a parting gift, the broken prince fled to the Urdue Mountains. Hunted by assassins from an enraged Ysandre Empress, the lawless tribes, sentient beasts, and rogue mages who called the peaks their home—he met his new life with the same softness a chick learns to fly. He only survived because Lyria, spirit of the Urdue icy caps, took pity on him and brought the winter's veil early and for a month taught him to survive. Over time, he adapted, leaving behind the soft prince he once was. Scorned as a coward and a traitor of Ysandre's ideals of honour, Red Pawn found something far more precious than titles or prestige: freedom.
